SUPPORT COWBOY ART!
There are a few good ways to do this. If you are a member of a local rodeo committee, work on setting up some
booths for artists at each of the events. Work can be from local artists and/or artists who are listed on the Internet, from organizations such as Cowboy Artists and Photographers of America.
Visit your local art galleries, and find out if they will have shows featuring cowboy art. If they are not, or have no interest in cowboy art, keep after them.
It's like going into your favorite food market and bugging management to stock some of your favorite food they don't carry. If there's any kind of market for a product, there's a good chance that product will be carried by the
retailer (don't worry about being fancy with galleries - that's what they are - retail stores who want to do business.
Use your search online search engines to their fullest extent - you may be surprised at what you find. A few example are found in this issue.
Visit your local art shows, and if you find cowboy-western artists, look at their work, talk to them about it, and, even if you don't buy, this interest is
important.
Subscribe to publications which feature cowboy art. Some free one are available, or visit your local library to read what they may have on the shelf. Most have an e-mail address for their editors, so
if you feel that the publication isn't giving proper recognizance to cowboy art, let the editor know.
It's all business - and as I said before, if the business doesn't know it has a trade which is interested in cowboy art, it will neve do anything about it.
Cowboy artists and photographers have to let the trade know they're around. The Internet is one of the best ways to do this. A good (effective, interesting, and relevant) web site, well promoted (marketed), will help, over the long run,
in bringing the artist's to the attention of the artist's targeted demographic.
Over the years, I have had numerous requests from small rodeo organizations, publications, schools, and other legitimate groups,
asking to use some of my rodeo photos, to which I gladly said "OK - just send a copy of what you're doing and make sure to credit the work"), which any organization will do.
The latest request can be seen by clicking here.
This is one of many ways the artist/photographer can pronote his or her work and at the same time enhance the public's knowledge about the availability and popularity of cowboy art.
Cowboy Poetry It looks like we have something going with cowboy poetry - especially poetry from the minds of our cowboy artists. So as work comes in, we'll publich it here for your interest and enjoyment. One of the artists listed on the cowboyartshow.com gallery pages is D. Enise.
"It is a true story, and I am afraid I don't write in "cowboy poetry" style
there are actually 3 poems, and it is also being produced as a song." Continue here Click here for D.Enise's art work link
